Will take more then a 3rd to dump Byron. Still a serviceable player that can do a lot for a team but cap space is a premium that teams arent taking on without being compensated

Wings decline. Lindstrom has more "pure value" than Byron in a flat cap world. While Byron is still a serviceable NHL player, he actually carries negative value at the moment, so we are not giving up assets (even though Lindstrom is a 5th defence man at best) for him.

Byron and a 2nd to the Wings for nothing and we have a deal.
