Description
1. Vegas has plenty of options on D, so they opt for a forward who may or may not challenge for a position on the big squad.
2. We've seen what it takes to aquire a talented defencemen in the league thanks to Edmonton. ANA isn't confident that they want to move anyone but Kapanen and Corrado make it happen for Montour.
3. Kuemper has some life in him and will be comfortable signing a longer backup contract

Its not bad, I like the thought process, however I think Montour is slightly overhyped. I think I read somewhere that his comparables are to Connor Carrick, which isn't bad but not Kapanen worthy IMO. I think he would be worth acquiring if they wanted maybe a Komarov/Soshnikov and a pick. I really hope the Leafs don't sign Zaitsev to that much, I would hope we don't go over 4.25m ... that being said its impossible to gauge what he'll get.

I guess the Loov part is out too.. Fair on Leipsic. 1.25 might be too much but I'd like to see him sign for longer than his qualifying offer. I know he's got minimal NHL experience but I don't think there is much doubt that he will have success, whether its in TO, or in a bottom 6 role or what have you. 1.25M might be high for this stage though. 1Mx3 fair?
