If Rielly is being traded at the deadline that means the Leafs are out of contention. And if thats the case Rielly gets traded to a team in contention for Prospects and picks, not guys who have established NHL careers

That is one way to look at it.
I viewed the other angle which is losing him after the playoffs so trade him while you can and get established players to continue the playoff run.

How about getting players that add up to at least half riellys value?

I did. Big stay at home DMan in Soucy. And a speedy heart and soul player in Tanev. Sandin will replace Reilly for offensive DMan and anchor on the PP. Soucy adds size and toughness on the back end that replaces BOGO. Tanev replaces Hyman at a cheaper cost,.hits more, and I'm confident playing with Matthews and Marner would up his production more than Hyman.

These two pieces fill needed holes for the sake of Rielly. Fair trade in my eyes. Because Seattle is starting they will want at least a prospect to part with these players hence SDA. 5th could be removed I guess.

You forgot one thing about the players you traded for, they are not very good and putting tanev on the top would be an utter disaster .

I also some how missed you signing know awful person and bigot tony deangelo which is much worse.
That guy lost his shot at the nhl and any gm who signs him is as gross as he is

I think you'd be surprised with his speed. According to how many breaks and partial breaks Hyman had, Tanev could use his speed and slightly better hands to pop more in. Not to mention having him on the top line means more ice time. More ice time leads to more hitting which hopefully will wear down the other team some.

As for the signing. Similar to Chucky, it seems like something Dubas would do (assuming Tony came out and apologized). Cheap no risk deal.

Deangelo has been awful since before he waa even drafted and he keeps doing awful things, he got bought out and missed the back half of the season because he refused to even pretend to apologize, hes a turd through and through
