Trades
1.
CGY
  1. Eichel, Jack
Additional Details:
Reported ask for Eichel is two young NHLers, a good prospect, and a 1st round pick.
BUF
  1. Dubé, Dillon
  2. Välimäki, Juuso
  3. Zary, Connor
  4. 2022 1st round pick (CGY)
  5. 2023 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Adding on a 2023 second as Zary may not be as enticing as some other prospects Buffalo is offered.
2.
CGY
  1. Drury, Jack
  2. Foegele, Warren [RFA Rights]
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Foegele and Carolina both see it as time to part ways. Warren then signs a four-year, $3.484 million AAV deal as projected by evolving hockey.
CAR
  1. Monahan, Sean
Additional Details:
Monahan is a definite upgrade and good bet for Carolina to take a bet on to improve their already very strong top 6. He could easily slot in on the left side of Vincent Trocheck and Martin Necas. Calgary is forced to move Monahan with bringing in Jack Eichel's $10 million cap hit.

You know Monahan doesn't play wing right?

I don't see a point to the Carolina trade and also switch Zary for Monahan and Martin Prospisil and or Yan Kuznetsov.

It's easier to adjust to the wing than it is vice-versa. And even if he can't adjust (unlikely), Trocheck plays wing to so you have a fit there.

What's confusing about it? From CGY's perspective you need to do something to save the cap space to fit Eichel in while keeping the likes of Tkachuk and Gaudreau, and CAR and Foegele seem to want to part ways, so bringing in Monahan as an upgrade is a fine solution to their problem (especially with a previous trading relationship between the two teams).

I just dont see Carolina as a fit for him, they really dont have the need, filling the hole Dougie's leaving seems more important.
