Additional Details:
Blackhawks apparently don't want to qualify Suter since it would risk arbitration. Trade here is just to get Suter to UFA status.

The goalie Tandem is fine IMO. Very good humans as well. I don't now if they are comfortable with this left wing side. Tell me more about Pius Suter. Don't know his game.

Suter has pretty good advanced and basic stats (got 27 points in 55 games as rookie), not great at faceoffs but not terrible. He can play on the PP a bit and apparently he can play up to 2C occasionally. He also has pretty high potential for the future, if the Leafs want to move Tavares to the wing eventually and play Suter in the top 6.

Sounds nice to me even if TOR needs a good face-off guy. Maybe he could improve in this area. But wouldn't it make more sense to bring in a more experienced player for this spot - win now mode?

Looking at the other centres available, probably the only other two affordable ones that also bring offensive production comparable to Suter are Wenneberg and Bonino. Both of them would be good options, but Wenneberg might not want to leave Florida + he might want Kerfoot money. I think Bonino is a good choice as well for 3C but he is significantly older and puts up fewer goals + points.

I highly doubt Suter makes it to UFA, they’re likely just trying to get a contract done before they have to qualify him and he can go to arbitration.
