Description

I actually really like this roster, depending on who the unknown player is. Only signed to 3 years to match when Matthews/Nylander/Robertson contracts are up. Hopefully the cap goes up by then as well to $85M+ with the new TV deal in the US.

I actually really like this forward group, Bunting/Robertson can move up the lineup if needed. Robertson gets sheltered ice time with Spezza who would be a good mentor for him.

Forward group stays mostly intact into 2022/2023 season.
Kessel $1.2M comes off the books, either throw that at a Rielly extension or move on from him and give it to Sandin.

20 player roster, some say it's an issue. It's not. Leafs had used a 20 man roster last year and they are able to do it with the Marlies being in town. Easy for them to call a guy up if needed.

What ever happened to Chris Johnston's mystery player...?

Player Unknown is the mystery player. Friedman alluded to it last night on twitter as well. More likely it comes via trade involving picks/prospects than FA.

Leafs have had interest in Dvorak, DeBrusk, Gusev, Bertuzzi. Who know what it would take to acquire any of those guys but we'll see what happens.

For me, Nick Ritchie would be a last ditch effort if they can't acquire someone. I don't think he fits in with this team.
