I don’t see an eichel trade happening unless they give up either Caufield or Suzuki

Sabres have to assume they won't get any team's best prospect in return for Eichel, because teams want him to play with their top prospects. Sabres will likely get quantity of good prospect but I don't see them getting elite prospect like Suzuki, Caufield, Zegras, Drysdale, Tkachuk, Stutzle, Laffy, Kaprizov.

I would see habs build something around Kotkaniemi, one of Romanov/Guhle, Poehling, one of Drouin/Byron (cap dump), one of Ylonen/Mysak and one or two 1st round picks

Elite centers at Eichel’s age never become available. Adams is holding out for the best deal and he has a year to trade him before the ntc kicks in.

After yesterday’s press release by Eichel’s agents the price just dropped significantly. The trade I propose above is just about the most they will now get for him. Byron going on LTIR until the new year basically gives the team an extra $2m cushion, so you can assume about $2.4m in cap space based on the 22 man roster above. They may carry 23 a some points during the season but don’t be surprised to see the daily recalls and assignments back and forth cap gymnastics with Laval like we saw this year in order to maximize cap space. It’s pretty much a guarantee that the roster they have now will not be the one they open the season with. Expect a major trade or 2. For example, I just plugged in a potential trade for Josh Manson that is definitely a premium to what he’s worth, but the trade fits with what each team is trying to accomplish at this stage.
