This trade will get vilified I’m sure. I could knock off a first round pick in 2024 but Buffalo wants a 4 piece deal and that pick will most likely be late in that round.
Staal brings a veteran experience and a presence to the locker room.
Vatanen is on a prove it deal.
Chaisson produces on the PP and has a Cup ring.

It seems pretty apparent to me personally, that if Schneider or Kakko, let alone both, were available to be offered for Eichel, the deal happens weeks ago. Buffalo has less leverage than it did a few weeks ago, so im hard pressed to see why the Rangers would up their offer to this package at this point in the conversation.
