Curious what your reasoning is for why the Jets would want to give up their number one defenceman for an aging and rapidly declining Nash. Also would have to give picks to Arizona just to give them Staal

Arizona doesn't have trouble hitting the floor. They just take on players on LTIR. Really think NMC Staal would be interested in moving to second last place Phoenix? Looks like a couple of trades just done so the Rangers can get cap space.

Shattenkirk is seeking the Pietrangelo deal 7 years at $6.5 million per at least. Detroit offered Smith 3 years at $3.75 million per and he said no. So no way does he sign for what you're offering. He wants at least 4 years at $4.25 million per. And Lol really an overpaid Rick Nash+2018 2nd+4th round picks for Jacob Trouba at least make it a fair offer here that's not even close.

You have to look at the whole picture. Ask for the moon, then negotiate from there. Shat to stay in STL sure, less to play for NYR. Same with Smith (or any player) to stay in hot mess DET. Smith 4x4.5m no thanks, closer to 3x2.9m. Don't fall for everything you read, they're wheeling and dealing.
