Why does everyone think Landeskog is so good? He's literally a 50 point player.. Last year Spooner scored 49 points and Landeskog scored 53. This year Spooner has 34 points in 60ish games while Landeskog has 28 in 55 games.... all while playing 5 more minutes per game. They produce about the same yet Landeskog has so much more value somehow. If we give up a similar producing player plus a first and top prospect for Landeskog then Sweeny will have truly lost his way and all credibility. Everyone should just drop Landeskog to Boston unless it's for a great deal our way. We're not giving up Spooner in any deal IMO because he's a great player who will get even greater with Cassidy as his coach, He's the perfect 3rd line center and a guy who could easily score 50 points next year all the while earning probably below 4m dollars on his next deal depending on how he closes out the year. I'd put him at like 2.5m to 3m next year and he's going to be worth 5m scoring big points and playing on pp #1. He's even killing penalties under Cassidy sometimes. Spooner is completely underrated and Landeskog is completely overrated. Put them on the same team playing the same minutes and I give Spooner the edge offensively. Sure Landeskog has a lot of intangibles, but they make him the Captain of one of the worst teams in the league. I could care less about overpaying for the next Shane Doan, it simply shouldn't happen and Sweeny has said he's trying to keep all his prospects and picks trying to make the next core of the team.

I don't think Pastrnak will sign that much term for only 5 mil per, especially with the increasing cap next season.

Amen. 100% agree.

That being said, Spooner is pretty horrible defensively, but hopefully as he plays more under Cassidy he can become average at least.
