i think turris is toast but it's not a bad gamble for the habs. no need for kulak but desperate need for a center.

Turris can't play center at this point. He's a depth winger who can maybe contribute on a PP2. Doesn't win faceoffs doesn't kill penalties. The oilers would happily take an extra dman for him. They probably accept.

habs don't really have many options for centers. it's a no risk gamble for them. kulak is extra and even if turris doesn't work out his contract if up at the end of the year so it opens up money for next season.

kulaks contract is up at the end of the year aswell, so this is a moot point

either way, i just don't see the point of this? Turris is at best the same player as peohling is rn. And probably not as good on the PP2 as you claimed him to be as Brooks is tbh

I think we give Norlinder a look. I’d temporarily give Romanov huge minutes in Laval to boost his confidence a bit.

We can always send to Laval and clear $1.1mm of his cap hit. I think it could be a worthwhile gamble to give him a fresh start.

if it were up to me i'd just play poehling but it's clear that management doesn't like him. the fact that's he's 22 now and still isn't getting his chance when the habs have the worst center depth in the league speaks volumes. play him in the nhl or move him. i don't know what there doing with him.

The main point is a roster spot for both Norlinder and Romanov. Both have European assignment clauses I’m pretty sure.
Hasn’t been a problem thus far cuz Edmundson was on IR. Should be back within 2 weeks.
Wideman and Niku make more sense cap wise for reserve D.

If you think the AHL is where romanov shld be, then norlinder does not deserve a look either

were doing what we do with all our prospects. Destroying them mentally and tanking their trade value. We've seen this for mostly all of the 21st century.

Thinking that Romanov is in the process of being destroyed mentally is a bit of a reach, imo. Personally, I don’t care much about Romanov’s trade value. If it’s me, we’re keeping him pretty much no matter what.
The idea of a conditioning assignment is not a long term thing.
Caufield, Poehling, Romanov, Norlinder…you guys want to make the team? Steal someone’s job. Make us trade someone because you go out there and prove that you’re ready and hungry every single night.
Be the hardest working skater on the ice.

Gotta have that kinda mentality to make it.

If that’s true, then it’s probably easier to get the player and agent to accept to be assigned to Laval after actually getting some games with the big club to see if he’s ready or not.
Or it’s also possible after those games that everyone’s on the same side that he’d be better off going back to Sweden for one final season.

Data helps drive decisions. Personally, I’d want to see him play, and it could make sense simultaneously with a conditioning stint for Romanov with big minutes for a week or two.
Then what we would learn during that time probably makes the end decision way clearer for both players about where they should be. And whether or not we should keep Kulak.
