Tavares and Rielly make the team over a few of your selections. Nurse has no business even being considered.

yeah Nurse only plays like 30 minutes a night and does everything an elite level for the Oilers and was easily the best Dman in the North Division last year. He is gonna get consideration to be on this team

Tired of seeing these takes. Leafs media all have Rielly making it over Chabot which is absolutely ridiculous. He's a great offensive defenseman but there's no reason as to why he should be on team Canada. Nurse is definitely overrated but IMO is around the level as Rielly. If either of the two make it over Pelech or Chabot I'll be outraged.

Mangiapane is shooting at almost 30% right now, his numbers are bound to drop back down. His chances of making it are slim to none. Bergeron definitely makes this team and more than likely plays with Crosby + Marchand. I haven't watched many jets games this year but by all accounts Dubois looks great. Will definitely make things interesting if he continues on this pace. If Dubois drops off and Scheifele doesn't heat up ASAP, Tavares and Barzal probably take their spots. Barzal has been cold as well though so who knows. Maybe Hyman even pushes for a spot because of his track record of playing with star players. Very interested to see how the forwards play out as Canada just has so many options this year.

Agree with most of the defense. As I mentioned above, Pelech probably takes a spot from Nurse or Doughty. Only two points on the season but he's arguably the best shut down defenseman in the league right now. Right side is pretty much guaranteed to be the 4 you have listed but the left side is pretty wide open.

Goalies is obviously going to come down to whether or not Price is able to come back on time. Either way, there's numerous guys I'd take over Binnington right now.
Sidenote: even if Fleury continues to have a mediocre season (he's been great lately), I'm still taking him because he's proved time and time again that he shows up for the biggest games. Every year when they do the player polls him and Price are always 1 and 2 for "who would you pick for your game 7 goalie"

Jost from TSN did an article about Nurse. When McDavid was on the ice, Nurse was elite, and below average when he played without McDavid. Nurse is not all that good. He's never impressed me vs top competition.

Reilly is overrated, sure, he has the offensive stats but he isn't the best defensively. Chabot is better.

Rielly has been fantastic this year. And really all but one year

Ok you leafs fan. I see Nurse and Rielly at around the same level, so either or is fine with me. But both shouldn't make it in over Pelech.
