Description

In my 2021-2022 scenario, Giroux, Risto and Jones are traded to restock the picks or prospects pipeline.

That should make life fairly easy for the Flyers GM. Barring a massive course correction by TK, JVR, Lindblom and Hayes, this team stinks again.

What it should be is: the year that 10 kids get significant playing time. Is Wade Allison a 3rd line winger? Is Frost a second or third line center? Are Laczynski, Zamula and Foerester NHL Players?

This should be the season we get answers to that.

I can't see anyone wanting to take Lindblom, but JVR and Sanheim are deadline trade bait. A skilled GM could have 5 different defensemen by the end of 2023, because they will have the cap space to do it.

Try and play Lindblom, put him instead of Bunnaman. Or even on the third line and I think you could get Laczynski for a cheaper price.

If there was ever a team that could retool instead of blowing it up this is it.

It has good young to prime age wingers in Farabee and konecny. It has two young to prime age top 4 d in provorov and Sanheim.

It has a 2 c at the end of his prime in Hayes and a 1 Rd in Ellis at the end of his prime.

It has a good shot at a starting g in Hart (still proving himself).

Add to all that it has a guy leaving his prime who has been a #1c, and quietly a top one at that.

That's a core that can be built around. My only concern is the centres are old and Frost seems more okay to good, than impact. So if couturier and Hayes age rapidly that's a big hole. Otherwise a core of
