You wouldn't get Pesce for that either. They'd get a decent forward, and a decent d man back, on the surface it looks good. But I do not think CAR deals one of their young top prospect defensemen unless they get a young top prospect forward.

Actually think Carolina would take that deal and quickly at that. Don't think it will happen. Doesn't makes sense for Boston. With McAvoy set to sign his ELC in few weeks there isn't a need to. The 2 teams have talked something similar but it's for Justin Faulk. Because of the glut of young D men and, Car being a low budget team, and Faulk having a bit of a down year there is talk they will shop him during the offseason and are looking for a young center in return. Carolina did scout Boston earlier this year. Whether or not it was for that purpose remains to be seen. If Boston was to go after a young Carolina D man Slavin or Hannafin would make more sense ad they are LD. With Carlo and McAvoy on board for years to come as RD they could use a young LD more for when Chara retires. They have Lauzon, Zboril, Lindgren in the pipeline not sure if they are capable of being #1 D pairing. and they need somebody to bridge that gap even if they developed into one. O Gara, gzrelczyk, Arnesson are 3rd pairing type.

I think the Hayes deal is far more likely to get rejected. Take out Nolan and Hayes for a 6th probably accurate. Maybe it's my bias but I just don't think he has any trade value at all.
