Also unrelated note. This San Jose sharks team is in a playoff spot. Very impressed with bob and this leadership core.

It's a bad thing. They're not deep enough to compete for a Cup. They need to tank another year and try for next year.

It’s only a quarter of the season in. There is still a ton of the season left. James Reimer, who has been beasting, cannot possibly keep this up all season long. He has to eventually fatigue and taper down. He’s a “platoon” type of goalie and Adin Hill would really need to step up if the Sharks want to keep up this wild card/playoff spot contention alive.

The good news is if they are in the playoff hunt is that Tomas Hertl may want to re-sign and believe the Sharks have a new cup window in the following years.

The cap is going to be very difficult when you got to eventually give pay raises to Meier, Ferraro, etc. and that doesn’t even include Hertl re-signing.

I keep hearing that this draft class is deep and I have no clue how to pick prospects, but would a mid-tier to late first round draft pick be pointless/obsolete?

To be honest, I rather not have the Sharks get their teeth knocked in the first or second round of the playoffs anyways, but with all these long term contracts, something tells me the Sharks are still not going anywhere for a while.

A high draft pick this year would go much longer than a 1st round exit.

I agree with you on the signings. Might make sense to sell Hertl at the TDL even though he's a fan favorite who could get to the Marleau level.

The sharks have so many huge contracts. You really can’t trade them if you “tank”. And you don’t suck enough because of those contracts to get a top pick to be worth tanking. So at least put yourself in a situation to be competitive. And the sharks actually have a decent core developing, Eklund, Timo, Ferraro are really good stepping stones.

Adin hill is a key player going forward for sure. Looked good last night. Has shown 1A potential. Just need to realize it

I agree, I just want one more high pick is all.

I think moving up at the draft is a solution that could work for the sharks. If a team would accept a package of labanc and our first and maybe others that would be great for us. I still think we need a big time center prospect.

I think we're covered at that tbh. Especially if Hertl resigns. Bord and Robins look good.
