Without being too negative, he's really been one of a few highlights this season.

You don't want Meier. If you pay attention on this site at all, all of their players are overpaid and underperform. In fact, the Sharks should probably be paying you to take Meier off their hands.

Which GM always seems to fleece others
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>Prior to the Karlsson trade (it seemed like a fleece at the time let’s be honest but things went poorly/ unlucky); Wilson was definitely up there but imo Sakic has taken that top spot for the last good while now. Poile was doing damn well but some moves have gone bad and Lou shouldn’t even be there some of his decisions are brutal. Stevie Y and Waddell are good candidates. Dallas GM deserves some reps too. And Doug Armstrong ain’t to bad either.</div></div>
The trade looks so bad right now with 3 years in a row of injuries. Before that, he played 5 seasons, 70+ games. 3/5 were the full 82 games.
I can't recall a trade where the player who came over was just consistently injured and couldn't really play at 100%. It's really a weird/unique situation.

Not sure NSH would want to retain. Wonder if we could put Sorenson in there?

Erik Karlsson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Agree, but I wonder what that number would be though. $4 million? $5 million (x 6 years really).
So what then? They wait it out? Best case scenario is the NHL and NHLPA agree on one limited compliance buy-out....which I am guessing they would use on Vlassic.
I have no idea...this is what I am exploring this. I cannot imagine any team taking Karlsson without at least $3 million retained and some heavy conditions on games played. Say if NJD gave up Subban, Walsh, 2021 2nd pick and got Karlsson at around $7-7.5 million x 6 years and he plays 70 games in 3 of first 4 years, I think they would be happy adding another unprotected 1st rounder. But the deal goes bust for them if he plays only half the time.
I get that, but glass half empty, half full. If Sharks are rebuilding, they'll want to move the salary, which is nearly impossible in this day.
This possibility lowers the cost for NJD, lowers the return for San Jose though.
Where is the equilibrium? What number leaves little enough on San Jose's books to move him....and little enough on NJD's (or other teams) books to take him?</div></div>
Sharks won't retain that much for that long. I don't think anyone would.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEarthmaster</b></div><div>I'd recommend against it, Zadorov is pretty bad. Negative value in xGF and at breaks even defensively at best</div></div>
If he's paired with the right guy though, he could bring what that D partner lacks? I've always thought Zadorov was a fascinating player.

Give us PK for EK, no retention. Due to that, you don't need to give any prospects. However, I'm curious what you feel would be good to come with EK to NJ to help even it out. I don't think the Sharks will part with a 1st for the next two years, but perhaps a roster player? Labanc maybe? Interested on your thoughts.
If I'm being honest, I don't see the Sharks trading EK. They gave up a lot to get him and I still think they want to see a full season from him.

Sorenson is almost a cap dump here, so the 3rd make sense.
I don't think Ozzy is enough for a 30 goal scorer.
Also don't think the Sharks should be trading picks/prospects.

Bringing Karlsson Back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>It isn't that Karlsson isn't a good fit in San Jose, it's just that he wasn't the player he once was, maybe due to the effects of injuries. He wasn't at his peak when he was traded and he has fallen off since.</div></div>
I do agree he's past his prime, but you have to admit you didn't think he'd fall off this fast. Multiple groin injuries in less than 3 years. Hasn't played more than 60 games a season. SJS themselves haven't played well over the last couple years. It's a really odd situation.

Nice of you to consider Couture a top center. I don't think that about him at all and I'm a Sharks fan.

Simek was great the first year he was here, but he's still coming back from injury sadly. He could get back though and has been improving.

It's an interesting trade idea, but I think ExD kinda ruins it. I don't see them risking losing their best LHD.
That being said, it's kind of sad that a player like Simek actually is Sharks' best LHD lol.</div></div>
Sharks best LD is Ferraro.

I can understand the frustration, but lets let them get a few home games under their belt. Since late Dec, they've been home less than a week I think.
I will say though, I've never seen Vlasic look less interested (it's actually really weird to watch, he doesn't look like he wants to be there). Maybe every team will be allowed a buyout that doesn't impact cap. I imagine it would be him at this point.
Jones cap hit after buy out isn't that bad.
