One thing I think is off are the x8 years for Mathews and Marner contracts but I do agree on the 10.5M and 8M respectively for them. You're right, these two contracts really ruined the balance for the team. They got greedy and took $4M in cap collectively that could have made other lines and overall the team stronger. I think the only reason why its kinda working now is cause of Spezza, Kase, and Simmonds each taking a $1M less than they deserve, not to mention Campbell the goat. But to play devils advocate, COVID did ruin the pattern of annual cap increases which would have made these bad contacts less bad. Regardless, Dubas did mess up by overpaying them for their RFA years.
