Canucks Deadline Moves

Description
Trading Miller while his value is at its peak is of utmost importance at this year's trade deadline, and with the Rangers showing interest according to Friedman, and their plethora of RD prospects, New York appears to be the ideal landing spot. Schneider over Kravtsov because of the latter's skillset being similar to that of Quinn Hughe's and we should be looking for a long-term Tanev-esque player. First-rounder pays for the retention which is massively beneficial to the Rangers who will now be acquiring a top-line player while paying him 1/3 what he is worth according to GSVA metrics, and the remaining picks + Schneiders is the cost for Miller's on-ice performance as well as the possibility of extending him down the line.

Motte belongs on the Vancouver Canucks, so this trade should happen with the impression that he will return next season on an extended contract (4 x 2.5M Max). Calgary is simply a placeholder as I think we should be renting Motte out to the highest bidder and accept our fate as bestowed upon us by Jim Benning, as a non-playoff team. I figure the max we can get for Motte as a rental is a 2nd-rounder from a contender and Calgary had Florida's on top of their own and are looking to re-emerge out of the Pacific conference. Motte would likely shift Lucic down to the fourth line and push Trevor Lewis out of the lineup.

Outside of those, Halak would be a nice piece to move on from but realistically I don't see that being plausible.

When Hamonic returns then Rathbone goes back down to Abbotsford.

Also on the train of weaponizing our ability to retain cap one more time, I've seen some suggestions about Pavelski but have no confidence in the return we could get.

I think that covers everything in this post, the players in the lineup are playing superbly in Abbotsford and deserve their shot especially given some of their RFA statuses and being in contract years potentially boosting performances.

I await your criticism and let me know if I missed anything.

Rangers initiated discussions about him, he is a top-line player at a near PPG pace and you believe that is all he will fetch in return?

Obviously not. But you are not getting Schneider, period, amen, so its as good a trade as the one proposed.

Vancouver's biggest need is at young RD and with Rangers seemingly initiating trade discussion then this is the price I would hope JR would place on a top-line FLEX guy who is on a PPG pace.

Curious if it is Kravtsov if you still lol?

Same question to you. If it's Kravtsov what are your thoughts?

Kravtsov is plenty tradable. If VAN wants Krav they can have him. With Chytil and Nils, but you lose the 1st round pick.

Kravstov is all ours, but not sure how many picks would go with him. Kravstov and a 1st is fine and maybe another pick like a 3rd of 4th.

I think if we are retaining salary, which certainly doesn't have to happen, then the first is in there 100%. Not too informed on either of the other players mentioned but I still feel we need more.

Honestly, it is what it is. I think we can afford to resign Miller, making the consolidation of assets worth it.

Yeah, I'm interested to see the real world package if the teams end up working something out. Thanks for your feedback smile

I think it will be something along the lines of Chytil, Lundkvist and a 1st.

I fully expect Schneider to be the next captain of the Rangers and so I dont see him moving. Especially with the connection he has with Gallant.
