Description
Jets fan here.
Apparently Elliotte said that the Kings want a LHD and scoring at the TDL. Jets could truly be out of the race by then, looking at the standings.
I'm not saying anyone is "untouchable", but out of the three young LHD guys in the Jets system (Stan, Samberg, Ville), im less inclined to trade Samberg. He looks like the best out of the bunch to me.
Thoughts are appreciated! (Polite thoughts plz)
Trades
LAK
  1. Copp, Andrew
  2. Dillon, Brenden
  3. Heinola, Ville
  4. Schmidt, Nate
  5. Stanley, Logan
  6. Stastny, Paul
Additional Details:
Order of who I'd want dealt.
Copp is a goner.
Dillon's been good this year but clearly the youth are ready.
Don't care for Stan.
Don't want to trade Ville but I don't see how he fits anymore (unless the Jets get a new coach next year)
Love Stas, want him to re-sign and stay but he deserves a real cup run.
Don't think other teams want Schmidt's deal/cap hit, despite the fact that I think he's fit in well in Winnipeg. I would not be upset at all if they kept him.
Any other players from the Jets that the Kings would want?
WPG
Which of these guys do the Kings want and what do the Jets look for in return? Young RHD would be nice (I would assume Clarke is untouchable) and some young right handed forwards. Even picks to re-stock the cupboard would be nice. I'm sure the Jets would be willing to eat some salary.

The Kings areas of need are a top-4 Left shot Defenseman and/or a legit 30 goal scorer with special teams' upside.

Clarke and Byfield are non-starters for any trade. Kings aren't looking for rentals at this phase.

Brenden Dillon is 31 and doesn't fit the Kings long term, Copp goes to the free agency next year so they can try and get him then, Conner is very interesting but I think other options like him will be available at similar cap hits in this years free agency.

Ville Heinola is really the only one I'd be interested in but he's still a bit off from being a regular NHLer who can take on top-4 LD minutes.

You think someone like Kyle Connor will be available in FA? I must say, I think you’re wrong.

If that’s what you want, a legit top 4 LHD and a 30 goal scorer, you’re gonna have to have Clarke or Byfield on the table. I’m not saying the jets have anyone to offer that fit your description, but if that’s what you want, good luck not including top prospects. Those type of impact players will not come cheap

Clarke and Byfield are untouchable period, but if Nate Schmidt has 30-50% salary retained, I'm sure the Kings could part ways with like Helge Grans or another A-/B+ tier RHD/C prospect and Sean Walker.

Ok, understandable on Clarke and Byfield. I’m not demanding any of them. I’m not unrealistic. In fact I wrote that in the original trade description.
But I’m just saying that if you’re looking for legit 30 goal scorers with term at the TDL, that’s what teams are going to ask for.

You are acting as if Clarke and Byfield are the only top prospects the Kings have, Turcotte, Vilardi, Kupari, Grans, Chromiak, Pinelli, JAD, and many others could easily be packaged with picks to get players like Chychrun or other effective LDs. The Kings have one of the deepest prospect pools in the league, and are not in a position where they are in a mess if they don't trade for any position.

Forsberg (Kings have Arvidsson) and Gaudreau (unhappy with Sutter) are similar caliber players to Connor, so yes I believe there are players who are comparable. In addition they could go after Palat, Riley Smith, Niederreiter, or Burakovsky without giving up a single asset.

I don't think we are looking for players like that at the TDL, but we will be in the free agency.

Agreed. If Gaudreau is available in FA I expect a hard push by the Kings to get him. I just don't think they'd give up assets at the TDL for a 30 goal scorer unless there's term

That is fair, your prospect pool is very strong. And if the Yotes do deal JC to the Kings, I'm sure they could put together a great package.
