smh i cant say what i wanna say without getting banned. you are cherry picking stats. He is 127th in GAR. If you think that warrants two A-B level prospects and more, then plz block me

Defensive GAR is much more useful as a measurement of defense than offensive GAR is for measuring offense. It is not “obsolete”. And it is a well-followed and often used indicator for defensive ability.

The comp for a Severson deal is Jake Muzzin’s trade in 2019. Add a little for position scarcity. And add again if salary is to be retained.

Muzzin returned a 1st round pick, and two prospects, who were the third and fifth best prospects in Leafs pipeline at the time (a pipeline that was ranked higher in 2019 than it is in 2022). Also worth noting that the Kings had a logjams at LD in 2019 and pending cap issues, so they were openly trying to trade Muzzin. The Devils have publicly said they intend to keep Severson.

So two of the leafs top-five prospects, a 1st round pick, and 3rd round pick (if salary is retained) is about right.

Liljegren/Knies /1st/3rd
Robertson/Niemela/1st/3rd

Unless it’s a package like above, the Devils have no incentive to move Severson. He is playing well for us and we need him in our lineup.

and im using GAR. You know what that is? it accounts for all aspects of the game lol.

It is so hard for me to be respectful here but I will try. Grannstrom was never gonna be good, Durzi sure but he wasnt highly touted and a first. first off, Muzzin is much better than severon. not even close. Muzzin was 24th in GAR at the end of that season. Not 127th like Severson. So not even close to being same at that time. And, Knies and Niemela are WAY better than Durzi and Grannstrom. Like not even close at all. Not at all. Liljegren sure because he could use a change of scenery but not Robertson.

What Severson is worth is probably a 3rd + B prospect. If a team is stupid, then maybe he could get Liljegren and like a 3rd or 4th.

From your logic, Andy Greene will fetch a 1st and Knies lmao.

You need to stop cherry picking stats and making poor comparisons. Muzzin is SIGNIFIGANTLY better than Severson. 100 players between them at the time of their “trades”. Seriously bro, you are just spewing BS. If you were saying like Siegenthaler was worth that then Id agree, not Severson at all

Also Im glad he is playing well for you. Not even in the top 125 defenseman for GAR. He is quite literally a bottom of the pack #4 defenseman on an average team.. and thats based off of percentile, not opinion

EDIT:
Niemela is 19 and tearing up the LIIGA and Knies is a point under a PPG in college. But im glad they should be packaged individually with a first and another prospect for a #4-5 defenseman on an average team.. i hope you are joking

I have seen all these silly arguments before and they are pointless.

Let me make real simple.

Devils aren't trading Severson.
Leafs aren't getting Severson.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about so there is not point. You took 20 posts away to find a stat you didn't know existed.

LMFAO. that isnt Def GAR. nobody calls it that. this is actually so frustrating dealing with this. Im making my point then im done.

Severson is 127th in GAR. GAR (goal above replacement) measures all aspects of the game. Def is not defensive goals above replacement. Points are about access and if you play more minutes, you will have more points. Severson being 127th in GAR does not have the same value as someone who was like 20 something 2 years ago who fetched a first and two B level prospects. And Severson most definitely does not fetch a first, prospect at a PPG in NCAA and a defenseman who is at like 30P in 50 GP at 19 years old in LIIGA.

I am done. I know I am right. If you want to keep gaslighting me and just overall being rude, then feel free. But you are just trolling at this point. I never once “did not know” Def existed lol. It is that you said defensive GAR, which is not a thing, instead of Def.

Anyways, I hope you read all of this and have a good night.
