Description
First Vancouver hires Travis Green as Head Coach.

Hopefully Vancouver can draft 1st or 2nd overall and take either Nolan or Nico. I used Patrick as the example because he would be my preferred pick. EIther way do not rush either of them into the NHL, Patrick is coming off an injury plagued year so let him dominate junior for another year and be the go to guy on the world junior team. Nico would have an option to play in Utica which would be best for his development.

Markstrom is given the opportunity to be the # 1 goal and it is sink or swim to see how he does handling a 60 game work load. If he struggles that is okay as they will get another high pick the following year and have an idea if he is the answer in net until Demko is ready.

Demko and Juolevi are given another year to develop their games until they make the roster the following year.

I know tampa is looking for a rh defenceman to play with Hedman and they would most likely loose Kilorn for nothing in expansion if they do not trade one of their forwards. With the emergence of Point and getting a quality defenceman back seems enough to part ways with Johnson. If Van needs to add a pick then they could also do that as a sweetener.

Montreal is in need of help up the middle, and Sutter could be used as a replacement for Plekanec when his deal is done. Montreal fans love Galagher and rightfully so but maybe after a down year vancouver could try to bring a hometown kid into town for a center, former 6th overall Virtanen and a deecent defence prospect in Subban.

This is the last year of the Sedin's contracts and unless they plan on taking a massive cut to play after this year their time in Vancouver would be done. Loui Eriksson is given another year to prove himself and if he fails to have a comeback year he will be bought out.

Lander would be a UFA which was surprising to me as I thought he would be an RFA. He is having a good year in the AHL and would be a nice fit on the fourth line. However really Vancouver could fill any older veteran center on a one year deal as their fourth line center.

The idea behind the next season is to see a decrease in Veteran ice time (Sedin's, Eriksson, Edler) and let the kids play more prominent roles and see how they do (Goldobin, Boeser Stetcher, Tryamnkin). Best case scenario the team sucks and has a lottery pick again (preferably a defenceman Dahlin or Merkley) which is optimistic but the kids also are given an opportunity to prove themselves as legit NHLers.

The following year they will have Nolan/Nico, Juolevi, Demko on the roster with potentially 20 million or so in cap space to spend wisely on free agents.

      My perspective:
-I really like you keeping Patrick in the minors, I think it would be best for him as well
-I don't see the benefit of the Tanev trade, wouldn't it be better to accumulate some prospects/picks?
-Personally it might not be a bad idea to keep him, defense can be really hard to develop and you have a good base now all you have to do is develop your young forwards
-I think you should try to develop Subban and Virtanen into NHLers and hope one of the two hit

      My take:
Like your team explanation. My comment would be to keep Virtanen (T. Green will determine status) as he is big, abrasive and the power forward they are lacking
and still has upside. Don't think Montreal would want another Stubban, would insert Dahlen and 3rd pick with Sutter.

Don't think lander signing is good, rather give a player in Utica a shot

Karn99 who would you like to see as a 4th line centre option from Utica? I don't know if I see any player in the organization that looks like they could fill that role. Linden mentioned in his post year news conference that the Canucks not only failed at the NHL level, but also at the AHL as they did not provide Utica with enough depth as Vancouver was hampered with injuries. I believe the job should be up for competition in training camp, and if Lander doesn't work out he at least provides depth at the AHL level with NHL experience
