If another team trades for Forsberg I doubt they move his rights

Im pretty sure you need to trade for them at the TDL for them to be able to sign 8 years.

Speculation is that Varlamov doesn't want to play in Canada. He already said no to Edmonton. And just acquiring a players rights doesn't mean you can sign them to an 8 year deal. if Poile moves Forsberg more then likely that team will lock him up. And it wont be the islanders.

Varlamov won't likely play in Canada. Might have to move him to an American team. He also will only fetch you a pair of 2nds at best (more likely a 2nd and 3rd and maybe a lower end prospect).

I'd trade mayfield away for a forward, picks or prospects. He has an expiring deal at the end of the year and the isles don't have cap or roster space for him. A bottom pairing dman is easily replacable, and the value you can get back for him will be fairly nice.
