Description
so the Seattle trade is just for fun really but I think it could really work for both teams if it actually happens.

Arizona, I feel like if Detroits not a suitable trade partner with the Leafs then the Yotes is the team that makes the most sense, swapping goalies like that addresses both teams net depth in my eyes, especially if Mrazeks retained for Arizonas own cap reasons.

the big splash now, San Jose's asking price for Middleton I believe is a 2nd, and either a prospect or another pick. now the guy plays in their top 4, that's a huge hole to fill, so, if Dubas is willing to retain Dermott so he can fill that gap for the Sharks NOW rather than them waiting on a prospect to do it in a few years, and then give them their 2nd PLUS another pick (I say next years 3rd but who knows) I think its enough to sell them on it. its cheaper than Chychrun or Giordano and its certainly more realistic than Chara cuz Lou would never make a deal with Toronto lets face it LMAO

also seeing how great Tavares and Marner have been the last 2 games I think its not a bad idea to keep them together and move Nylander back over with Matthews and Bunting for a bit, just a thought

sharks accept, Dermont with zero retained and a2nd plus the 3rd for Middleton would be fine, you guys are tighter against the cap than we are.

true, I don't know how much retention would actually be possible anyways since not a lot went through on Dermott in the trade simulation here, but I feel like some would be a nice selling point/cherry on top for you guys

Dermont and a 2nd is a good selling point the 3rd keeps you guys from needing the retention. 1.5 isn’t crazy and Dermont i feel should gel with Karlsson or Burns and fit in our top 4 or worse case senario he’s on our third pair with the offensive park plug Merkley. we don’t need offense from Dermont just solid D.

fair point LOL and yea given the opportunity he can do a lot for you guys and flourish, he's young and has a lot to learn still but playing with vets like Burns or Karlsson would make him even better faster

that and our coach is a known defensive wiz and has worked miracles making Burns look decent defensively and helped guys like Ferraro Knyzhov and Middleton come from
out of nowhere and succeed. hell evwn guys like Meloche and Megna guys i would think are at best 8/9 on the depth chart of any team have been putting up 18-20 min games and looked like they belonged. i feel
like a year or two with Bob and Dermont will look like a steal similar to Barabanov was for us last year.

Dermott can definitely look like a steal by this time next year with that kind of development absolutely, meanwhile with how Middleton has been developed he provides us with more physicality that could hopefully/finally push the Leafs offence to wake up and get past the first round LMAO (I laugh on the outside but I'm in so much pain deep down)

no Middleton is such a great teammate tough gritty and will
defend his teammates in the end this deal will help both teams as TOR desperately needs a guy like Middleton.

and i would retract that Donskoi for Engvall deal, Engvall is better defensively bigger younger and has scored more goals and points than Donskoi, he is also cheaper.

I feel like the Mikheyev Kampf Kase line does great defensively on its own while the 4th plays good possession for when the top 2 lines transition for the offence, Donskoi was AMAZING on both San Jose and Colorado in the years before, putting him on an offence like the Leafs could make him a beast again in my opinion

Dubas should be desperate to make that deal for Middleton right now with how the Manson and Chiarot trades went down. I'm sure even off the ice he'll bring some good character to the team

he’s funny in interviews and the team loves him, the guys don’t want to see him traded.

he was good in SJ and in COL but at almost 4 mil he’s overpaid and i’m not seeing seattle retain much without more compensation comming back

if he can put up the numbers he was prior to going to Seattle I don't mind his price, especially if we can get it retained a bunch. Donskoi was a 4thRD pick himself, maybe adding in next years 4th to a retained Engvall and this years 7th (what Engvall was) could go through a bit more realistically
