Description

Let's assume the Avs make a move for Copp (for Kaut and Behrens) then re-sign him. Naz and Bura bolt for big money and term. Now what does the roster look like potentially? Probably will have to trade Girard at the end of the season to re-sign Newhook and Byram.

If that's all it took to sign Andrew Copp he'd already be resigned back in Winnipeg. Try more like 5 x $5,000,000 minimally if not slightly higher.

It's not as bad as the position some teams (Vegas, Florida spring to mind) will be in but they'll have to be very careful about how they spend their money. That's why I'm very reluctant to blow all their capital on a rental this season.

Not necessarily - they're in a really bad spot with the cap for next year so that is very expensive from their perspective.

True, But he's definitely not signing your offer, Talk out of Winnipeg is that he wants the Zach Hyman deal 7 x $5,500,000 though i don't see him getting that much hence why i paid him a little less.

It's probably a little light. But it does highlight why I don't like the idea of the Avs dealing any significant capital for a rental. Too much risk that they just walk away.
