Description
Expansion
I like Chimera, but right now he's the most expendable forward. its also a low risk pick for VGK. counts towards the Contract requirement and is also a good trade chip if they are terrible in the 1st year.

Johnson Trade -post Entry Draft

Not quite sure what TBL will look for, but given his downward production over 2 years and TBL contracts issues, it could be at a low price. I prefer Duchene but not if we assume the price is still the same as it was at the TDL.

Panarin Trade - Live Entry Draft Trade

The more I look at it, the more sense it makes to me for CHI to trade Panarin. They could use him, but they really dont need him and would greatly benefit by reallocating his cap room. if Foote is still on the board at 15, I could see a trade like this happening

I love these moves but idk if that's enough for Johnson. Good ideas though. My only issue is this team cannot be a contender and go into the season with Mayfield as a full time roster member. He did well in spot starts and short stretches but not every day. Need to add a defenseman and if that's at the expense of adding a big name forward I would do it. Via FA Alzner comes to mind. Very good defensive defenseman.

I disagree. As a bottom pairing 6-4 defenseman with grit, I think he's serviceable. I also think that if he doesn't work out, there are more than enough defenseman in the minors to fill that role or serviceable depth defenseman available in UFA. I like alzner and would love to have him, unfortunately hes going to command 4 mil +. this team is hogtied by the salary cap and even if it moves up enough to make a signing like alzner, I do not agree with the long term strategy there. I'd rather wait and clear cap room, give other prospect D time to develop. If they do not sufficiently develop, then look to FA
