Meier is a 1-year rental and should be valued that way.
Late 1st, early 2nd, roster player and solid prospect.

I specifically denoted after July 1 such that they can agree on an extension.

You get off on calling Meier a rental don’t you? Even though he isn’t a rental just can’t resist. He’s an RFA, that’s not and has never been considered to be a rental.

Reimer is good but if you're getting Holtz, less protection on the first, Walsh, and a 2nd, a pending 35 year old UFA is not enough to balance that out. It would have to be the younger one with term.

Okay have Hill then

Well he is under contract for this season and next season. Kaapo isn’t even under contract next season

Cmon. He's an expiring UFA after next year and Kaapo is an RFA with team control.

And? He could easily be signed for one year. This trade is after the season correct? So you want term that isn’t there on either guy?

Term was the wrong term. Team control was the correct one. They shouldn't roll the dice on a player who can walk if theyre giving up so much

Reimer gives you more stability, and the less protection on the 1st is irrelevant because I find it near impossible with your team in place plus Meier and Reimer that your team would backtrack in any way.
Walsh Holtz and the 1st is the asking for Meier. a 35+ over a ppg power forward who is 25 and under team control for 2 more years (1 signed plus a high QO but still considered team control) is a high commodity that rarely ever is available and Meier is one of 3 sharks they are not shopping and wouldnt consider moving without really good return like that one I mentioned. the 2nd is for Reimer. Reimer over Bernier is a HUGE upgrade for your team that ranks last in goaltender performance this year and adds a wonderful team guy and locker room presence and a Mentor for Blackwood or whoever you bring in as his tandem. and at 2.25 mil would be one of the cheaper dependable guys available.

your Value is fair if the sharks were actively looking to deal him, however sharks have zero desire to trade him and Meier likes the sharks and does not want to leave and has already mentioned signing long term as a priority this off season.
