Bruins Bring Back Iggy

Created by: DirtyRebound
Team: 2017-18 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 27, 2017
Published: Apr. 27, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
As dumb as this may look to sign Iginla, its low risk high reward for a guy who is comfortable with the Bruins and lives in Boston. He can slide from 1st-4th line and play the role needed. Gives the Bruins a one timer option on the 2nd PP at the same spot that Pastrnak slots in on the 1st PP.

This is all granted they aren't able to sign better one year options in guy like Sharp or Hudler but still is a good 1 year rental to buy time for guys like Senyshyn and Bjork.

There's also still 7 mil in cap space if they choose to go out and sign Alzner or trade for a guy like Scandella or Fowler.

If Iginla signed for that price then I would have no problem with this. Wouldn't hurt to add some depth on the wings.

Also, this gives Senyshyn a year down in Prov and hopefully he'd be ready come 2018-2019.

Edit: Just read your description. Sorry for repeating what you said lol.

Lol its all good. Great minds think alike thats all aha. Even at 2-2.5 mil it would be still be a bargain. Future HOF's always carry intangibles with them, much like Recchi did and still with Chara. Can't hurt to bring him in.

1 year low risk / high reward for Iggy, sure why not. I'd maybe flip him with Pasta though. Krejci can't be asked to center an aged winger and a rookie on the same line. Also Marchy/Bergy would be the focus of defenses which would give Iggy time and space. My only suggestion would be to send Jimmy to the minors vs buy him out. If you send him to the minors you only gain $1 million in relief, but your done with him after the season. Being that this team would have so much cap space, it makes more sense to send him to the AHL.
