If Filip Forsberg wanted $8,000,000 x 8 years from Nashville he'd be resigned by now. On the open market he'll get closer to $9,500,000 x 7 years or possibly $10,000,000 x 7 years. Probably take closer to $9,000,000 x 8 years for Poile to sign him.

Who can give him 9,5x7 year contract?
He is not key game changer, so he is not worth more than 9 millions. He should be an absolute elite winger like Kaprizov, Panarin, if he wants such money.
If someone wants to beat Nashville's 64m offer - good luck.
But I don't see such teams. Probably NJ...
He wants the cup, so Arizona will not be his choice))

1. It’s insane how long Poile has been GM. Correct me if I’m wrong, but he was the GM in the expansion in the mid NINETIES. And he has had some good trades too.

2. I would take that Edmonton trade. Kassian and the Nashville crowd would go beautifully together. And Barrie may just need a change of scenery.

3. Maybe it’s just because it was Colorado but i fell like they need a better backup than Ingram. If I’m wrong let me know I don’t really watch a lot of Nashville games.

4. Overall solid and believable. Good job.

Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa, New Jersey all those teams could easily offer him $9,500,000 x 7 years so could Anaheim and LA possibly Vancouver as well once they move out Miller or Boeser.

1. All right.
3. Ingram is very good, but need more experience in NHL. I think he will be good backup.
You can check the Milwaukee Admirals story of this season. He is insane. Like Saros. Just carry the team into the playoffs by himself.
4. Thanks!

Probably Nashville can offer 8,5m. But no more.
So any team should pay him 9,5+m. And I think it will kill this team. Insane contract.
Just my opinion.

He'll be the #1 LW on the market with tons of suitors, That alone will drive his value up. $8,500,000 x 8 years with Nashville and $9,500,000 x 7 years on the open market sounds about right.

Personally, I think he is that kind of elite winger. He might not be a Kaprizov, but I would say he has something on Panarin. Teams will look at Forsberg and look at his numbers, and right off the top of the page you have a 40 goal season. While it could be argued as an effect from it being his contract year, 40 goals in a single season isn’t easy to do. While teams like Buffalo, Ottawa, NJ all have the cap space to sign Forsberg to a 9.5x7 or even a 10x7, I don’t see there being much incentive for Forsberg to go to those teams as each one is likely 2 or more years out from starting to compete for a consistent playoff spot. Whereas a team like Carolina, who does have the flexibility to offer him a 8.5-9x7 contract, (provided certain moves are made), would be more of an enticing target since they are competing for the cup now. And frankly, at least in my opinion, he would fit the Canes system like a glove.

It really depends on if Forsberg wants to chase a cup or to chase a bag of cash. Can an agreement be made to meet in the middle, yes, but it would have to be a team that has a better than average chance at a cup that needs to offer that. What happens next, I don’t know, but it should be an exciting off season for sure.
