Why not trade Matthews for a bucket of trash? lol.

You gave up probably a little too light for Trouba, you won't get Alzner for that little, why are you taking Orpik? He doesn't do enough. Hyman is overpaid and you take him right to UFA status, either 1 year or 4, no way 2 years, you may as well flip him now.

I might agree with the Trouba trade, though I would be willing to add another prospect. I am taking Orpik because he can still play on the third pairing and he would get them another 1st. As for Hyman, I thought 2 years would keep him in rfa status but is not go 1 year. And he gets overpaid because of the short term deal. If they give him a longer term deal than they can lower the aav. And given the current cap situation the Leafs can afford a little more on the Alzner deal.

While I agree with your points Orpik is an expensive third pair that doesn't bring much to the table and isn't worth the cap hit.

I completely agree with your point when it comes to the on ice product, however he does come with experience and character which is invaluable for a young Team like Toronto and the money is not much of an issue for the duration of his contract as they have tons of it and no need for it until the following season when Matthews and Marner are due for raises.
