All trades are bad for the Devils.

And Luke Hughes is spending another season in Michigan, That's more of a spring signing when Michigan is through with it's season.

Don’t listen to these replies. These are all good trades except potentially Colorado.

I'm not particularly attached to CHI keeping Stillman around, and I'm not necessarily saying he has more trade value, but I'd rather just keep him around than do that trade.

That is why I added Stillman into the mix for the time being. I think everyone wants the devils to do something massive but the top of the fwd group actually plays well in NJ and the defense has been improving. The biggest concern was the 4 Devil's Goalies with worst than -10GSAx last season. Finding players to complement what they already have is much smarter for them than trading atop 5 pick, trading a super high end prospect, or another large FA signing.

I knew the Colorado one would get the most criticism but I think Compher can be moved out due to the cap situation in COL if they plan on resigning most their guys. Bednar gives him tough line matchups for a bottom 6 player and he is a great finisher, up near the top ten percentile in forechecking success. He is the type of player the Devils could really use with Mercer if he stays at Center.

I thought it made sense for NJ bc Stillman's brother is already here and he was not nearly as effective last yr than he was in his more limited play time the previous 2 nhl seasons which is why I think CHI would move on

Sure. That is a completely reasonable supposition. I, personally, just don't like it. I think he has more to show and plenty of time to show it on a rebuilding hawks team. Plus he is cheap. If he were to suddenly turn it up a few notches next season, he could be worth a whole lot more to a rebuild, whether that is in trade or just being a part of the roster. But I have had similar ideas, putting the brothers Stillman together in either acquiring Chase or trading Riley.
