I've been crucified for suggesting that the Leafs should trade for Pesce. The Hurricanes value him tremendously and I don't think Sam Bennett would be an appropriate equivalent.

Pesce is a solid 2nd pairing right handed dmen. I think maybe Bennet and a second would work. Pesce THE fish is a very underrated

I agree. I feel Bennet should be the foundation of this trade and any parts necessary should be added to him, but no more than that

Pesce would be pretty much a perfect fit to round out the Flames top 4 D.

I'd be scared as hell to trade Bennett for him though, because in the long run you risk the terrible optics of having traded a top two line center for a 2nd pairing defensive Dman.

But if it makes the team better, it makes the team better. Look no farther than the Hall/Larsson swap, for an example of that type of trade. Looked bad on paper for the Oilers, but was what they needed to do to make their team better overall.

Hall for Larsonn is the same scenario. Giving up a young LW that has proven he can score in the NHL for a defensive defenseman that will make your team that much better

We shouldn't resign Elliott. If Bennett goes to Carolina, we get Elias Lindholm back or no deal (I'd gladly add onto Bennett). Hopefully we pay Vegas to take Brouwer, otherwise this looks like a good roster.
