Add barzal to the trade and replace the NYL 1st by their second. That trade isn't even close for MTL to accept

You're probably right that it's not enough for 1st OA. But your counter is just as laughable! While admittedly I may be undervaluing, there sure is a lot of overvaluing that pick and the players available to be selected with it. Add Barzal? Come on now!! Maybe 1st OA next year (Bedard) gets a package that could include Barzal, but not this draft.

Wright could most likely be as good or better than Barzal. and there is Edmundson who is a top 4 even top 2 D

I don't see it, but agree to disagree. I think Barzal would be among league leaders in scoring with almost any other team but the Isles. Don't see that ceiling in Wright's future. His 2-way game is excellent. But defense is teachable. Elite skating, hands, offensive ability . . . not so much. Also, Edmundson is not a top 2 D on most teams, imo.

Anyway, all debates aside, I was simply experimenting with the idea of MTL trading that pick for some decent Francophone returns. I've long heard Beauvellier being a desired grab for MTL if they can get him; Dufour is a power forward who has put up stellar numbers in junior and is considered one of the steals in the 2020 draft; and Bolduc is the future replacement for Edmundson, with arguably higher upside. Thought throwing in the 13th OA pick this year and another pick might make MTL "give it all some thought," considering the French connection! But again, probably be loonie of them to do it!!

Thanks for the back and forth!
