Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
A lot of the things here are based on what Hextall said in his media availability.

Keeping Kapanen is a bit of a hot take, but I think he has very high potential as he had a great year the year before last and is very young still. He gets a 1 year prove it deal.

There is a spot allocated to one rookie. Either nylander, Poulin, puustinen, hallander etc

There is a spot for either O’Connor or Zohorna, both have proved they are ready for a full time 4th line role. If none of the rookies work out they will both play 4th line.

POJ finally breaks in to the lineup.

Zucker money will go to a new third liner and the Jake extension.

Rakell and Fleury take pay cuts to be in Pittsburgh.

Hullsy love the approach. It’s close to what I think Hex can do. Couple of things. I think Kap gets closer to 2.25 in arb. MAF is my fav ever but I just don’t know how Pens can get him in. I would go nuts if they do. I would spend the Nich $ on tougher D man like Zadorov and someone like Deslauries and Aston Reese to actual put a body on someone. They lost this year cuz they couldn’t hold a lead not cuz they couldn’t score. And I would get something for Heinen too. I would love this team tho

So you are saying something like,

    Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
    Zucker-Malkin-Rakell
    Rookie-Carter-Kapanen
    O’Connor-Blueger-Deslauries
    Zohorna

    Matheson-Letang
    Pettersson-Marino
    POJ-Zadorov
    Ruhwedel

    Jarry
    fleury

    ?
    I could live with that

Ya I think Rackell puts up 35 goals in a full season with this team providing everyone healthy. And Zucker $ isn’t moving probably so he’s gotta step up. Either way i think Penguins might have toughest off-season of any team in the league

Rakell easily puts 35-40 up if he finds his way onto Sid’s line.

I think zucker can get back to where he was if he can stay healthy. We saw how much he wants to win this playoffs - playing through that injury being held together by clear tape and Elmer’s glue. If not he only has one year left.

The penguins have maybe the highest risk highest reward off-season in the league. They could be transformed into cup contenders or a fringe playoff team. As long as Hextall resigns the right guys (not hard) makes a cap dump or two (not hard) gets Malkin legit wingers (not hard) and gets a dependable backup goalie (not hard) while getting the team a bit younger, faster, and tougher by adding the right bottom of the lineup guys (not hard) the team is a cup contender. It will come down to if he is bold enough to make some moves, primarily the cap dumps
