Tanev for Kane

Created by: dirtface
Team: 2017-18 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 3, 2017

Description
I made a post where I said the canucks should trade Tanev for the 8th pick and someone asked what I think a Tanev for Kane trade would look like.

Being said I believe Buffalo missed their shot at trading Kane to Vancouver as ownership is finally embracing the rebuild

Kane really was stellar in the second half of last season. Keep up his good play and attitude, he should be an attractive UFA signing in the summer of 2018. Depending if the Sabres out of the playoff race, could fetch a good return at TDL also.

Canucks are in rebuild mode. I really prefer the idea of Tanev for 8 pick it makes way more sense to me. The only way Tanev is traded is if they get a top notch prospect back

Agree with dirtface. It's not a bad trade if the canucks weren't in full on rebuild, but they're really only going to be trading the 26 yr old Tanev because they know they're not competing soon. Don't think they want a player of similar age back as the centerpiece.

Buffalo would never make that trade. Ever. It is an awful trade

I was Jim Benning, I would take this trade in a heartbeat. A Tanev for Kane swap would be pretty fair, adding in a top prospect like Guhle and the pick upgrade makes it pretty one-sided.
