Give away Poolman and a 2nd rounder then sign Troy Stecher to exact same contract? Allvin would only do that if Troy was swedish

poolman is a fast NHL skater, reasonable contract for a 3rd pairing defenseman, that could play on a stanley cup contending team, no way they pay a 2nd for losing him, they would want value back, RD is hard to find

Poolman’s head issues have been a big concern to me. Who would really want to take on 3 years of $2.5M AAV? When it comes to head injuries they can become no joke and it’s what kept Poolman out a lot. Maybe it wouldn’t take a second but I’d rather not hold on to him if his head will be an issue.

Troy Stecher never should’ve been let go of by Benning. The difference between Stecher and Poolman is Stecher is a top 4 defencemen and has already proven himself in top 4 minutes. So I don’t really know what’s so hard to understand about bringing Stecher back. He plays a good game. Better than Poolman honestly.

He played 26 regular season games this season and was traded for a 7th rounder. Just because he had 4 points in 4 games in the playoffs and played 16 minutes a night doesn't suddenly make him a top 4 defensemen, and the only reason he got those minutes is because of LA's injuries. I like Stecher and I agree Benning should have kept him in a third pairing role, but trading Poolman with a 2nd and bringing in Stecher at the same price is a terrible decision. I bet Allvin could care less that Stecher is from BC and previously played on the team. Poolman is bigger, and he played well with OEL at the start of the season, if he has a permanent head injury, just put him on LTIR for the rest of his contract and let Dermott play the right side and Rathbone will finally get a chance in the lineup.

Here’s the thing, Stecher was playing top 4 in Vancouver with Edler and they were pretty solid there. Still surprised he was traded for a 7th honestly. It was literally Stecher that ended up getting Tyler Myers minutes in the playoffs of 2020 and played more than he did because he has more to offer than him. I think the same would still apply now
