IMO Kane is still a complete game changer, better than any Center we will be able to trade for/sign this offseason. I wouldn't get to caught up with prospects, this team needs to win in the next few years.

As a CHI fan, we absolutely accept that. But it is definitely an overpay for NY unless there is some sort of affordable extension worked out ahead of time. And if that were the case, you would probably be better off trading Lafreniere because his next contract is going to be less affordable than Kakko's. So you might be able to get more prime years out of Kakko at a cheaper cap hit than you will with Laf.

To your point:

Kane and Panarin do not need an incredible center. Their best season in Chicago was centred by Artem Anisimov. His only goal was to play well defensively and go to the front of the net. Kane and Panarin carry the play alone. A real treat to watch. I really don’t understand why Rangers fans don’t want to make a trade involving Kane. Go back and watch some highlights of the two of them; pure money.

This is exactly my thought process... Both players have experience playing together, Kane helps 5V5, on top of being a Notorious Playoff Performer!

Extending Kane would be tricky... but IMO some team will need to pay a PREMIUM for a player like Kane, arguably the greatest U.S born Hockey player who comes with cup experience and still producing as a PPG player.

Yeah maybe. I'm sure real GM's would find him more valuable to a Cup run than a lot of the fans seem to on here. So you could be right. He will definitely get a better return than Philly got for Giroux, but that offer is still probably too much.
