I think I would make this trade. Only because of the 1st rounder though. The only thing that would need to be tweeked in my opinion is the retained salary on DD's contract. bring that down to the NHL minimum cap hit of ~550K (I believe) and it's a done deal.

I really think people are crapping on Bickell a lot lately because of his poor performance last year in the playoffs. He sucked, plain and simple. It happens. Take his playoff career into perspective as a whole. He's put up solid numbers every other year he was in the playoffs. Get him motivated and healthy again and he will rebound. Maybe not quite to 4M a year standards but definitely not to the low he's been made into recently. Versteeg really is just a floater piece. Decent top 6 replacement when there are injuries and an ok bottom 6'er. At 2.2m for another year, there really isn't all that much you can complain about. At least he brings some playoff experience as well.

Tinordi still has potential but ultimately his speed is not NHL ready. If he can get his speed up to snuff he'll be a beast. Until then, I just don't know. At worst he can be a bottom pairing d man on an average team. Desharnais won't be too missed but more so because we have at least 3 other guys who can play center in 1-3 line fashion. I also believe it helps force coach Therrien's hands to play Galchenyuk at center and we can finally see what this kid is made of. He is the only player in the whole Habs organization that has 1st line center potential.
