Seems like a type of offseason tortorella and fletcher could agree on. Add a goalscorer for the top 6, keep all 4 lines reliably defensively and hard checking, defense only so much you can do with this core. Keeps picks and gives you flexibility to pivot if need be

Imo I'd rather use that money for someone else than Burakovsky. Feel like thats a lot of money to spend on someone who doesn't really move the needle enough.

I really dont think forsberg or gaudreau are leaving their teams. Burakovsky while probably going to get overpaid, is a good top 6 goal scorer

Burakovsky benefitted heavily from the talent on the Avalanche and scored less goals than JVR last year. Obviously Burakovsky is better than JVR, but if its the goal scoring just keep JVR at 7 mil for one more year instead of overpaying Burakovsky for a longer term. Would rather just keep that cap open to go towards a better signing in the future than sign Burakovsky is my point. Burakovsky doesn't help this team enough to justify fitting in his 7 mil cap hit for 6 more years.

For the record, I'm not saying its a terrible move or anything. I'm more just saying its a complementary move. If we really retooled and figured out a way to get a top talent like Johnny or someone like that then you figure out a way to make space for another guy like Burakovsky on the 2nd line, but at this moment just adding Burakovsky isn't going to move the needle that much so might as well just keep the cap available for a real game changer signing/trade.

I mean, the goal scoring is what I'd like from him mainly, but he also obviously brings way more to the table than JVR. Hes a better playmaker, 5v5 player, younger, and just about better at everything at this stage of JVR's career. As for Burakovsky playing with a better team, fair enough. For what its worth though, I think he would've put up way more goals and points if he got to play on the top pp unit.

I totally agree with Burakovsky being better than JVR. Don't get me wrong, he's a solid player. I just don't think I'd pay that price tag for a guy that doesn't move the needle enough. Save that 7 mil to go towards a bigger fish. Fair point on the top pp unit though.
