Description

Avs likely don't want to commit to Kuemper long term. So they trade for Varlamov and in the same deal flip Girard for a winger so they can sign Manson as a more playoff-physical presence.

Newhook steps up as the Avs new #2C replacing Kadri.

Nichushkin earns his payday, but stays on the top line with MacKinnon and Lehkonen.

If the Isles are going to attempt to make a cup run next season, they likely won't give up that much for a 2LD.

As an Isles fan, I see Girard > Beau. We're hoping to get a 1st for Varlamov, so sending a 2nd to make up the difference between Girard and Beau helps us get that 1st.

Now the Isles can turn around and sign a back-up goalie for under 2 million.
