In all honesty, I really struggled trying to balance the trade. Each set up I put in just felt off for some reason. On one hand I was trying to value him closer to what he was, on the other I was trying to value him for this last season (which you can’t really do). I also had a bit of a rough go with Mittlestadt, he’s a weird situation to tackle

*Edit: Tried to lower it. How do we feel now with it?

You don’t trade good assets for an older Dman on a huge contract coming off serious leg injuries

Dude had one year, but a year prior was a bonafide top pair guy. Asset wise, Mittlestadt really doesn’t provide much and would be bumping someone out of the lineup that shouldn’t be. He’s more than expendable now. There is nothing wrong trying to bring in someone like Ellis for that price, he’s not a cap dump type of player

I’m disinterested in trading Mitts without getting to see him healthy under Granato.

5x6.25 for an older Dman coming of a leg injury is a recipe for utter disaster. Both age and injuries can slow a player down, Ellis was never a “fast” defenseman and he'll be a turnstile to any quicker player.
