Mtl small moves

Created by: BennyBoy91
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 3, 2022
Published: Jul. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Mtl creates cap space for the uncomming seasons.
They get Zucker for Hoffman.
Hoffman fits well in Pitts and they gain 1 mil vs Zucker.

Zucker vs Gauthier. NYR get a winger that can play RW or LW with 1 year left that as everything to prove at a reasonable 2,75 mil cap that could help on the wing vs Gauthier who as pratically no value right now, but he could bounce back somewhere else. Cullye is for taking a really bad contract for Nemeth. It could be another prospect but he is a left winger and NYR left wing is pretty stack for at least 4 years

Barrie vs drouin works well for both teams. MTL loose Petry and get a younger offensive dman and less expensive. He is less good then Petry, but for now it could work. EDM get a creative Winger that as everything to prove on a last season before UFA.

The Petry trade helps DAL on the RD because of the lost of Klinberg and they dont loose much.

They could also get good returns for Allen, Dadonov, Byron if they have good season.

The goal for MTL here is not to make the playoffs. These moves are for a rebuild and to get space.

Honestly, I'd rather keep Zucker and just let his contract fall off after this year. Zucker is a superior player in every other part of the game other than scoring which he's likely to see positive regression on. Hoffman is incredibly one-dimensional and he's not even doing well at the one dimension he's supposed to be good at.

Well Hoffman could be a much better player and could easily find his game back playing with Crosby or Malkin, even with Carter. This year he was playing with a really bad Habs team and was playing with like Jake Evans! That doesnt help to find your game back. I get your point, but if Hoffman could make a 50-60 or even a 70 pts year. He would be a really good thing for Pitts.

I don't disagree that Hoffman COULD. It's totally possible and in certain respects could have the Phil Kessel impact, but the Pens don't have the luxury of time to see if it pans out and then fix it if it fails. If this were like three years ago I'd totally make this trade.
