Description
No idea if either trade could/would happen but I had an idea and wanted to see what everyone thinks..

The Tarasenko move comes on the heels of Seravelli saying he still wants to be moved. This sends him and his best friend on the team to Edmonton where they’ll get to skate with McJesus and Draisaitl. Edmonton would have to clear cap for this to happen, but the Blues get a young change of scenery winger that could thrive in the Blues system as well as a 1st and 2nd.

In the second trade, I made a bold move to jump up to the 5 OA pick and bring in a couple of young defensemen that can contribute immediately. I really like Jiricek, and would love to see the Blues move up to get him. The Blues and Flyers have made draft night deals before, and the Blues have previously been linked to Provorov. Thus, a megadeal for the Blues to shore up their blue line. Jiricek starts the year on the bottom pair, while Provorov slots in next to Parayko to form a formidable duo for years to come.

This is all speculative and obviously very unlikely, but I’d love to hear everyone opinions shared respectfully..

If you remove Barbashev from the trade, Can the Blues retain some of Tarasenko's salary?

Maybe, but personally I kinda doubt it.. based on recent history, DA doesn’t seem to retain. If they did, they’d have to move Barbashev in another deal (or even include him in the PHI deal, which was actually my initial thought)

One year of Tarasenko isn't worth all to Edmonton. As you suggest then the Oilers would have to clear cap and lose another NHLer.

I saw that the Oilers would have interest in Giroux if Evander Kane doesn’t re-sign. Hence why I selected EDM as a trade partner for Tarasenko- they’re looking for a scoring winger and Tarasenko might be the best available.
