This deal saves Ottawa $9 million in cash, which may be significant to management. Or maybe not, I don't know. But it's not a bad idea.

Muzzin's cap hit is higher than his actual salary... sens can take the cap hit while paying $4M each year or $2M this year if they make the trade after toronto pays the signing bonus.
