I can respect that. My logic was that all Chicago would get for Seth jones at his regular contract is probably a late 1st. So Toronto pays that and adds a really good prospect onto that and retaining that much mostly through a rebuild would be worth it

I don't think its enough to retain 3m for 8 years. Its hard to part with the Jones deal after how much we gave up for him. A late 1st would be a kick in the teeth but your probably right that he's not worth much more with his contract. If we did move him for that, the acquiring team will be getting a great deal albeit with a high cap hit.

I agree. But Chicago has been rushing to make deals even though they might not be the best offer. If Seth jones sees what is happening with Chicago and demands a trade, I could see them rushing to trade him just like they did with DeBrincat and Dach

Im not opposed to the Dach trade as such. Disappointed to see him go sure but Im huge on Frank and he probably will be a better fit with the way the organisation is going. Take nothing away from Dach's ability I still think he will be a very good 2C just not suited to what the Hawks were wanting and struggled big time with face-offs.

The Cat deal was an absolute rinsing but it was more the exception then the rule IMO. KD was desperate to get into that early 1st round and maybe wasn't expecting the Dach trade at the time but its been done and we can't cry about it any longer IMO. It was a huge disappointment.
