Is Bailey's contract really that bad? Would have been 4th on the Sens in points, 4th in assists, and 6th in goals. He is only owed 3.5 Mill in real money on his 5 mill cap hit for each of the next two years. Yes, Bailey is getting older and his production has diminished but not as much as people think. He gets a bad reputation because he has been an Islander for 14 seasons and the fans are kinda tired of his game. He would still be a productive low-end 2nd liner or average 3rd liner.

Panik can be buried and only 250k of his salary would count against the cap.

So essentially the Islanders would pay a 3rd to get rid of Bailey.

Isles dump Varlamov before they dump Beauvillier. They brought Beau to the draft with them. That doesn’t sound like a guy they plan on getting rid of anytime soon.
