Analytically, he was pretty bad last year. He also had the turnover and penalty in game 7 OT that lost them the series. I just want him gone lol.

That is understandable being angry with him for the costly penalty. But I don’t think he was that terrible. It was like the rest of the team. Solid first half of the season but the rest just became a mess

He absolutely was better to start last season but it was almost all shooting % stuff. His finishing kinda died out in the second half and he had the worst play driving numbers among the wingers on the team. The PK was also statistically worse (allowed more high danger shots) when he was on it.

Maybe he has higher perceived value around the league and someone actually wants him. But I personally would pay to have that cap space freed up.

If there’s a team that he fits it would definitely be Carolina. But I think our PK got worse when Aston-Reese was traded. Also having Carter on the PK also hurts a little as well

Aston-Reese being traded certainly did not help the PK or the team's ability to defend at 5v5. Relying on old man Carter for that role is also not ideal.

Carolina might want McGinn back but they were also the team that let him go instead of trying to match the deal he got. Maybe they would want him with salary retention?

It would depend on who they acquire in free agency cause they do have interest in Klingberg and a few other players to bring back. They had no choice but to let McGinn walk last year due to being strapped against the cap
