I don't think it's very plausible to keep Petry when the GM literally says he's trying to trade him. Also I would be shocked if Slafkovsky doesn't start the season with Montreal. I think it's unlikely he goes to Laval. Other than that I think you are pretty much spot on with the fact there probably won't be any big moves coming. I think they will probably look at a veteran right Defenseman once they trade Petry though

Kent Hughes is trying to trade Petry without retaining any salary and getting in return a RHD who can help the team right now. If he can’t get that or Option B, a prospect or pick, he won’t move him and Petry is still signed to the Canadiens so he’ll play for them. Yes there are chances Slafkovsky start with MTL, but that will depend on training camp and/or we trade one of Drouin/Hoffman/Dadonov prior to training camp
