No reason to make this trade.

Rangers value Lundkvist more than a 2nd, at this point. Plan on having him battle Jones for the final D spot.

Tinordi does nothing for either team.

Agree. Liek why even put Tinordi in that deal? They wont wont him, he doesnt affect the cap. And from all reports he is like an extra coach in Hartford with the younger players. And a 2nd rounder? LOL Yeah no. Nils will go for more than that. if its a single pick its a first rounder, and not from a contender who will have a low pick, but a team someplace in the middle 10 of the first round as a likely landing spot with top 10 protection or something.

I was looking for any moves that shreds cap space. I am curious why you said Tinordi's $900,000 salary " he doesnt affect the cap". This is a serious question because I am in know way an expert on how the cap works. My thinking about Tinordi's $9k cap hit was in order to dump salary without taking a contract back. The reason I put Lundkvist in this deal was Anaheim has the Cap Space to absorb Tinordi's $900K
and Lundkvist"s $925k but the only way Anaheim is going to take Tinordi's contract is with a sweetener. I disagree that Lundkvist will still fetch a #1 Pick straight up. Maybe as a part of a package but not 1 for 1. The other reason I put Lundkvist in this trade is the he is not necessarily the clear cut #1 RD prospect in the NYRs pipe line. People were comparing him to Adam Fox, which is unfair but he should never have been in the NHL last season. He may have a great Hockey IQ, but his body was not mature enough for the NHL. I give him credit, he never shied away from contact, but he was getting hammered physically, but unlike Fox, he was unable to avoid being hit. So as I said I put Tinordi in the trade to dump his $900k cap hit (unless I am wrong, which is why I asked why he doesn't count against the cap) I put Lundkvist as a sweetener that would also take another $925k off the cap. Giving a combined cap savings of $1,825,000. That savings gets you Tyler Motte and possibly another low cost player. Again I am assuming Anaheim would want a NHL or close to an NHL player to take Tinordi's $900k. Maybe they would take someone other than Lundkvist. Maybe I am under valuing him. Again, I proposed this trade as a pure salary dump. The other reason I put Lundkvist in is the NYRs will probably not be making any BIG MOVES in the next 2 years because of salary issues. They will get Kakko signed to a 2 year $2- $2.5milion sometime in the next couple of weeks. Than next year they will re-sign Miller, Lafrenière, AND Chytil.
I also don't see the NYRs Buying out Ryan Reaves. IMO the roughly $500k they would save isn't worth it. They will keep him around for certain games. Besides his presence in the locker room is worth it for 1 more year.
Thanks for the feedback. I disagree with you as far as Lundkvist's value, but other than that, I have no real issues with what you have written.
