Why did Hextall just do that

Created by: BestGMBenning
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 16, 2022
Published: Jul. 16, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This. I don’t know. It ruins all the moves Hextall just made. Marino is not the guy you just dump off. Just cause we got Rutta, it should not have made Marino expendable. I don’t see this as a winning move. This is just a bad trade overall. Because not only do we still have LHD, WE GOT MORE LHD!!!! It would’ve been better to trade him off to Ottawa for a Jacob Bernard-Docker+.

Marino hasn’t been good the last two seasons. Look at his numbers. Was great his rookie season though. But ya, he’s still a 25 year old RHD that plays 20 plus minutes a night and plays both the PP and PK. And signed long term to a decent contract. The upside is still there.

I like Ty Smith though. I wish they would’ve gotten a 2nd though. I would have been happier with that. Hopefully NJ still stinks and that’s a high 3rd.

I found it weird for NJ. They are loaded at RHD. I guess they plan on trading Severson at some point this season or let him walk if the offseason.

They have Hamilton and Marino both signed long term. Severson is only 28. S.Mukhamadullin 20th overall pick and shouldn’t take long to NHL. 2 more years at most. Nemac was just drafted 4th overall and shouldn’t take long to NHL either. And they got acouple more high upside young RHD.

In what way hasn’t Marino been good? He’s been our best defensive defencemen along with Pettersson. He just had good playoff performance despite blowing the 3-1 series lead. He’s been the quarterback for our PK. He does so much right defensively. That’s why I never wanted to see him moved

I don’t always agree with Mark Madden. Actually barely do. But he does know hockey.
