Absolute WILD and 100 UNREALISTIC fantasy joke at trade deadline

Created by: Fran615
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 17, 2022
Published: Jul. 17, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This would NEVER happen.

This might not even pass on video game controllers.

It's just a fantasy for an accelerated rebuild.

It's just for the absurd look of having 7 1st rounder on 2023. Which - for geeks who have not humour, couldn't control their inner triggers - would be funny, fckued up.

We're just having fun.

Anyone replying with any vibe of being serious is flat out dumb and can'y read.

I only post this so it's funny and cool to imagine.

For fun. Remember the 'not taking ourselves seriously' game?

With the weed, isn't it cool to imagine a team that would pick 7 times in a first round? ANY TEAM.

Would probably retain on a Dadanov trade instead of a Byron trade, Byron qualifies for "future considerations" without retention lol

I think there's a fkced up GM in a pro sports who traded all his pick for the 1st overall... it's fiction, but it's cool to imagine.

    Man, you're soooo right.

    I thought I did!!

If you look at deadline cap space for the Habs, they would easily retain 50% of salary for that trade.

All in all, I just wanted to imagine a scenario with a **** load of 1st rounders. Just to see the other GMs or fans be like "WTF is going on here...!"

I mean if you get the right draft and trade all the assets for a draft 3 years out you could easily be very good very quickly. Imagine if from 2012-2015 a team worked on acquiring every first round pick in the 2015 draft. Mcdavid eichel marner werenski meier rantanen barzal Connor chabot konecny boeser and aho. Samsonov and Blackwood at goalie is a question mark but just trade one of the forwards and you’re chilling. It would be a highly questionable move but if you get the right draft, you have struck gold and 3 years of sucking is worth it by the 2nd year after the draft.

    Great point.
The 2012 draft was super bad, but then you hit the jackpot on a great draft and you get a solid lineup - Cup window - quickly.

The 2023 draft is supposed to be strong. Funny how certain years are supposed to yield a good crop, like wine years.

Even the 2012 draft would currently be contenders cuz mid round picks weren’t half bad. They would likely have an opening line being

    teravainen-hertl-Wilson
    Reilly-trouba
    Vasy.

Obviously not close to 2015 but still a solid opening line as is. The real bad drafts are like 1999. If you had the entire first round from that you are basically only walking away with the sedins and Martin havlat. If you want to talk about a bad draft that’s the one. Basically only produced 4 good NHLers in sedins zetterberg and Ryan miller. Awful draft.

    Right, excellent point.

Almost feels as though it's a true gamble to land on the special year or horrendous one

Honestly tho most drafts fall into the middle. It’s a bell curve. 75% of the drafts are mediocre which even saying mediocre, an entire first round is an above average team. Obviously a 2015 draft would produce a dynasty very quickly but look at 2016-2019. 2016 produces matthews and liane which a solid first line. 2017 produces miro and makar. 2018 produces dahlin and hughes with svech and tkachuk. Weakest part is so far the 2018 centers. 2019 produces hughes seider caufield and boldy just as legitimate nhl talent so far. 2020 which imo is the best draft since 2015 so far has produced stutzle Raymond jarvis and lundell as NHL talent. That top 15 is going to be dirty tbh. I see there being a world where Laf and byfield are the worst players from that top 15
